Kristen Wigh Goodman has represented businesses and individuals for over two decades with discrimination, harassment, wage and hour and labor matters, formulation of workplace policies and procedures, whistleblower and retaliation actions, contract drafting and litigation, unfair trade practices, commercial disputes and business torts.  She assists with internal investigations and risk assessment, as well as investigations by the Federal and Georgia Departments of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the OFCCP, and the Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs.

Kristen has an active business law practice, in which she frequently counsels clients on formation and dissolution of business interests, risk management, trade secrets, and deceptive or unfair business practices. She has assisted in the creation of numerous successful businesses.  Practicing in the high growth Georgia Port region has given Kristen particular expertise in issues affecting the logistics, transportation and warehousing industries, including owner/operator issues, contractual risk allocation, classification of workers, joint employment, temporary worker and general liability concerns.

In addition, Kristen has substantial experience advising physicians and medical practices in business matters related to health care, including negotiation of managed care contracts, RACs audits, payer unfair business practices, grievances before the Georgia Insurance Commissioner’s office, and physician and practice employment, operating and service agreements.

At Georgia Law, Kristen participated in moot court and was the winner of numerous academic awards and honors. She was a member of the Georgia Law Review Editorial Board, Phi Kappa Phi, and was inducted into Order of the Coif.

Ms. Goodman served as law clerk to the former Chief Judge of the Eleventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, Hon. J. L. Edmondson, from 1993-94.  She worked as an associate in the employment and labor group for Baker Botts, LLP in Houston, Texas and later as a litigation associate with Hunter Maclean in Savannah, Georgia.  She was the lead appellate Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Southern District of Georgia, before founding Goodman Law Firm in 2002.

Ms. Goodman has lectured on employment, health care, business law and the First Amendment, taught constitutional civil rights, and acted as legal analyst for the local NBC affiliate in 1998 and 1999 during the Clinton impeachment proceedings and that year’s Supreme Court term.

Ms. Goodman currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Savannah Hilton Head Youth Soccer Alliance and the Development Committee of the Savannah Music Festival. She has served on the board of the American Red Cross and advised the Board of the Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire and the Jewish Educational Alliance regarding employment law matters.  She is also an active volunteer for the Savannah Country Day School and Storm Soccer Academy and founded Futsoles, Inc., an international soccer related charity with her son in 2015.

In 2013, Kristen was recognized by her peers and Georgia Trend magazine as one of the state’s Legal Elite in Business Law and General Practice.
