Wes R. McCart, Associate

Wes McCart’s practice focuses on labor and employment matters and commercial litigation. His experience includes defending employers against claims of discrimination, unfair labor practices, and wage and hour violations at the state, federal, and administrative levels. Wes also has experience advising clients on various employment concerns and compliance issues, revising employee handbooks and policies, and drafting and enforcing restrictive covenant and separation agreements.

Before joining Hall, Arbery, Gilligan, Roberts & Shanlever LLP, Wes was a senior associate at Alston & Bird LLP. During his first year of practice, Wes completed a one-year fellowship as a staff attorney at Georgia Legal Services, where he represented indigent clients in matters related to unemployment, domestic relations, housing, consumer law, and public benefits.

Wes received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the DePaul University College of Law in 2009, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school, Wes served as business manager and associate editor of the DePaul Law Review. He also worked as a judicial extern in the United States Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Commercial Law Division (Chicago). Prior to attending law school, Wes taught languages in Georgia public schools and abroad. He graduated with a B.S. in education from the University of Georgia in 2001 and received a graduate certificate in Spanish translation from Georgia State University in 2006. Wes is a Georgia native and serves on the Board of Directors at Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden in Summerville, Georgia.
